John A. Hackett, CIC
Past President 1962-2005
For almost half a century John Hackett has been an integral part of J.J. Ruddy Insurance. Beginning in 1962, when he joined his mother, Mary Ruddy Hackett, as the third family generation. He has worked tirelessly to advance the service capabilities and goodwill of the agency.
During his tenure at the agency he has served on a number of industry and community organizations. As President of the Gemini Users Group he collaborated with insurance agents, carriers, and technology vendors to develop the next generation of agency management systems. John served as a Director for the Medford Co-Operative Bank for 23 years and is currently a Director of the Brookline Bank.
His dedication to the family business was equaled by his commitment to supporting the local community. John is a Past President of the Medford Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Medford Rotary Club, and is currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Hallmark Health System. His efforts to support the local community have been recognized by a number of awards including the Citizen of the Year Award and Rotary International’s Paul Harris Fellow – honoring his 40 years of service to Rotary.
John is a graduate of Boston College and has held the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation for over 28 years.
